I was told on another forum that a Green Terror would be fine with fish such as Severums, a Delhezi, Tyre Track Eel, and Bala Shark. Is this true? I would buy the GT as a baby as advised, and my Sevs are around the 5" mark, while the delhezi is about 3", the Eel is about 8", and the Bala is about 4". Would I lose fish or would it be fine? Oh by the way the tank is a 75 gallon, and it will be upgraded to at least a 125 gallon when the fish need it.

I'm pretty sure he'll eat the balas.. My less aggressive cichlids ate my balas.. Dunno about those other fish.

I've talked myself out of getting a green terror, for the simple reason of the chance of aggression.

I suppose it depends on the individual terror but i'd say 9/10 terror's are going to be exactly what there name suggests "a terror".

I'd say keep it species only and you'd have to watch it if you had a pair as with all cichlids they can be violent towards each other especially breeding pairs...

I have seen large Bala's (full grown or near to it) kept successfully with GT's and Oscar's. If the Bala's are big enough, they can usually take care of themselves and are much faster swimmers than the lumbering large NW's.

I notice you have terror in a 30 gal? Is this it's permanant home and how is it going on with the catfish and plec? What sort of environment is the tank made out like (rocks, plants etc.)

Just wondering as i will be having a tank around that size in my bedroom very soon and if i could house a terror then that would be great... also is it 30 us gal or uk gal?

The Severums are large enough to where I'm sure by the time the GT gets any length, they will be able to easily hold their ground against them. I'll probably have problems when the 2 are full grown though I think? As far as the Bala, he bugs no one in the tank and no one bugs him. Plus he is really fast as Ferris said. I have some smaller fish in the tank too, but those I just hope he ignores. I have a small holding tank though in case the setup doesn't work, while I get ready to take him back.

The 30 gal is a very temporary home, my 125 gal is currently cycling and he's going in there with the sailfin from my Mbuna tank and probably the 3 hoplo's aswell. I actually only bought him ahead of schedule because he was the nicest example i'd ever seen and i didn't want to miss out.

He gets on fine with hoplo's who are fully grown and he is about 2 thirds their size, in fact they all swim around together. I get the occasional fracas between the GT and the plec because the GT keeps trying to go in the plecs cave. The plec always wins that one at the moment and the GT back off but in a few months i think it would be a very different story.

Will have to wait until i get a bigger house then

Will stick to some convict in the bedroom then... just dangerous to put a plec in or anything else with them if they are going to breed which i'd like them to do!

Yeah convicts are real mean when breeding, a big common or sailfin would probably be OK but of course not in a 30 gal (US measurements by the way as no-one uses UK). If you are getting a male and female i'd avoid anything else.
