I was looking at a green terror the other day at the LFS and the guy there told me that cause of the lake its from it is close enough water conditions to live with africans. Is this true and if so do u think i would be able to keep it with yellow labs and electric blues. Also what about a jewel cichlid??

Nevermind water quality, GT's and Jewels both have very different diets and behaviors, and the mix of fish like this is highly unrecommended with Rift Lake species.

Not to mention, as I have heard from multiple sources: Regaurdless of whether they are bred in captivity, fish have a natural system with each other and when you take fish from the same area they have a natural hyerarchy that they eventually settle in. When you take them from two completely different areas they have no idea what to do with each other and even some relitively peaceful fish will fight.

My advice, if you decide to put a green terror in, which can grow to 10 inches, usually bigger than your average mbuna, you're taking a HUGE chance and will most likely end up with a lot of floaters.

The one green terror I have had the pleasure of meeting acutally puffs out his gills and attacks the side of the tank when you enter the room. Fun for someone who likes agressive fish, but not fun for the tankmates.
