It's not exactly me that needs the help,it's my daughter. My grandson talked her into buying him a fish that the shop clerk called a"yellow leopard spotted puffer fish". I looked and cannot find this type of fish. I called the owner of the shop and was told that they didn't have any puffer fish like that. The only kind she had was 2 green spotted puffer fish and 1 had been sold for $10.00. That's what my daughter paid for my gradson's fish so it must be the kind she bought. The problem is that for the last 2-3 days this fish has been laying eggs. I don't know anything about this species of fish so I don't know how they reproduce. The eggs are the size of my quilting stick pin heads and she has laid 15 so far. Is it possible that the other fish that was in the tank with her was a male and has already started the breeding process?Leigh told me that they had a clear slimy film around them. She thought they would be like tetras and the males would have to fertilize the eggs after they were laid. Neither one of us know anything about this kind of fish and the shop owner doesn't either. She said she only bought them already grown, but she wouldn't be putting 2 together anymore if they reproduced this easily. Any information you can pass on will be greatly appreciated.
If it was fancy guppies or tetras we know what to do. But in this case, it's kinda like the quote from "Gone With The Wind":" We don't know nothing bout birthing no puffer babies".

Sorry, I can't answer your question but wanted to let you know that you should probably post your question on the "odd ball forum". (Near the bottom of the forum list on the main page". There is a lot of puffer knowledge there.
