Hey guys,

I got some spot algae that I am having trouble getting rid of. It's so hard to scrap off! Any ideas on how to get rid of it aside from a black out? I have high lighting (2.6 WPG) on for 10-12 hours a day (fairly long time) I do dose C02.

I would like to know too.

Scrape, scrape, scrape.....

Put light back on and see all that I missed ! Driving me crazy.

i use a scourer, much easier and you can apply more pressure and get in all the small areas and corners, better than an algae scraper.

It happens in lots of tanks and is annoying because it is difficult to rub off. A single edge/sided razor blade will usually make short work of it.

Leave it for 3-4 weeks. It will get really crusty and then start to go brownish. This is it running its course.

Turn the filter off, wait for the current to stop and then scrape it off. It should fall to the ground. Syphon it up and then turn the filter back on.

After letting it run it's course then it will never come back as bad (if it ever comes back)

p.s. Up the phosphates a little if you are geting GSA
