Size in full grown fish, and length of fin extensions. The male is usually larger in both departments

Beautiful fish, if they are a pair then the 2nd pic will be the female. First pic looks male for sure.

Males get the gill plate patterning

So i'd say 1st pic - female, 2nd pic - male

Mine is a male
