Last weekend I came home from vacation and tested my tank(It had been cycling for 2 weeks), and it showed 0ppm of nitrite! :shout: :hyper: It seemed like my tank was cycled already!

Then when I tested it again yesterday and today the test solution apeared to be about 2 ppm right after I mixed it up but after the proscribed 5 minutes had passed it had turned this wierd blue-green color...

Does anyone know what's happening?

That has been mentioned a few times and someone emailed API I think and I believe that means that the level is extremely high. When you add the drops, if they turn immediately purple in the bottom of the tube, then your nitrite is off the chart high. You don't really need to let it sit for 5 minutes. When I was cycling and testing every day, As soon as I saw the purple in the bottom of the tube, I just poured the solution out because I already had my answer.

Not yet ut if your nitrite is that high, it shuldn't be too long. How long has it been since the ammonia dropped to 0 the first time? It usually takes about twice as long for the nitrite to drop.
