Fish Crazy
I got 12 more goodeids today...assuming 6 males and females or close, but one is still pretty small. Again from Mr. Langhammer, this time I got them direct so I got to see his huge system of tanks...he had a very nice colony of halfbeaks as well...I'll post pics later along with pics of my 4 platy fry i saved...
Green Goodeid from Santa Maria
Xenophorus captivus consists of isolated populations in western San Luis Potosi, Mex. This population represents a species described as X. erro in 1939. All Green Goodeids were merged into one species in the revision of 1979 but the populations are all precarious in the wild. This colony has been in captivity since 1966. Easy to keep, peaceful, & adaptable to most conditions.
-Langhammer
Also, this colony proves that skeptics of inbreding are wrong. The green goodeids that Mr. Langhammer has kept since 1966 have obviously been inbred and as he said and I tend to agree, this proves that not all species will have problems with inbreeding.
