Green Cory Eggs

I have 2 emerald green corys I woke up this morning to feed my fish when I saw stuff stuck to a leaf I wad looking at it wondering wat nasty stuff was I'm my tank when I relized they were eggs there wrere only 20 I even watch her get the sperm from the male and lay the eggs any ways I went to school came home 2 in half hours later and eggs were every were on the glass leaves I started counting I counted out 250 eggs before I stoped then estmated another 50 to 60 eggs I'm siked! Now I have naby convicts and corys

Yes I put them in a breeding net under the filter is this ok? I'm sure close to 50 eggs or more got ate. Also do you know if I could feed these guys to biger fish, I'm not sure because of there barbs in there fins?

Why would you want to feed them to bigger fish??? - if thats the case then dont rear them,let the fish eat the eggs....

Wat else would they be good for I didn't think u could sell them cause how popular they are or could I do that instead cause i breed my convicts for live food but have plenty of them and in my opinion its more rewarding when my corys breed so could I posibly sell them to a fish store or something? Help me please

Corys are always in demand, and if you can take the time and dedication on rearing them,then it'll be worth while

I rear mine for the love of cories,i dont make a fortune on them,but the few quid i get i spend on fish food...

Hmm I never thought of that, smart idea .i have the time and I would love to rear myne I find joy in these type of things . like I said i think baby corys are more rewarding then baby convicts cause they just happen and the parents take care of them.
The eggs are darker then yesterday I hope some of them hatch.

Corys can take a while to grow out to a sellable size but they are so rewarding throughout all of their growth, its worth raising them even if its just to boost your numbers and only sell the odd few. I remember when my Peppered Corys bred in my pond without me knowing. I only found out when we did a huge clean of the pond and starting catching bubs around 2cm, all up we caught 54 . We put the 54 young ones into an old bathtub I use as another fish pond and it was an amazing sight to see the whole school of 54 corys zooming up and down the length of the bathtub in tight formation.


If you do manage to raise the fry you can always advertise here in the trading section of the forum, try your local pet shops/ LFS and even just post adds in local papers/ trading booklets or on places like Gumtree. You will almost always have somebody who wants corys.

I haven't bred my C. strebia for ages, but just the other day I had an enquiry from a person wanting to obtain around 15-20 if and when I do breed some more.

Thank you. So I had 5 of them hatch but I think they fell out of the breeding net because I can't see them any more. I need to find something better to put them in and a better way to keep them airated if u could help me with this I want to breed my corys again but do it properly with better sucsess
