Greedy Fish

Just dropped a small (5pence size) algea disk into the tank and the goldy ate it in one.

Is this bad news?

it isnt bad news if the fish is breaking the wafer down, if it sinks to the bottom of the tank and starts extending his mouth out quickly, it means that its stuck, it happened with my fantail but it was a koi pellet, i scooped the goldfish out with my net and got a pair of tweezers and somehow got it out and it was ok it is now in my pond doing very well, i bring him in doors in the winter though.

perhaps you could soak them a little and break them up? just an extra precaution if your worried about them getting gobbled in one!

i was actually feeding them to the plec in the tank but the goldy nicked it before it reached the bottom.

think il stick to vegtables and let him graze on natural algea

When I'm feeding multiple kinds of fish I put the flakes in the front for the gourami and other guys then while they're eating up there I break up the algae tablets and drop them in the back for my corys. It's solved the problem of my greedy gourami eating all their tablets. Just a thought.
