:D Hi all
I'm new to the fishie hobbie and i just got some new guppies two of my female look a little pregie but i was wondering if anyone hjad pics of a guppy with a Gravid spot

Also do the females keep their Gravid spot or does it fade :/

i would be forever greatful for everyone who can help cause i just don't know

Gravid spots diminish after the female gives birth, and enlarge as they're maturing. The rumor is that those are the fry's eyes within the mother, and that may be true, but it may not be.

Here are a couple photos of pregnant female Guppies. Hope they help. :)

Yes it is the eyes and the ability to see them depends on the color of the fish. I can ofter see the eyes quite clearly in my orange swordies.

 thanks guys

i guess the spot on my fish must just be a marking cause it just doesn't look the sameas in the pics :p
:kewlpics: :fish:

My guppy was pregnant when I bought her, and 7 weeks later (2 days ago) she started having her fry. So far she's had 5. She's still very pregnant looking though the gravid spot is a little faded. Not sure what to expect now. But to answer your question, she can obviously hold them for quite a while!

do mollys have this gravid spot? :D
Some Mollies do...I know silver Mollies get them, usually. But they can be hard to see on Mollies, and even harder if they have bright coloring, or very dark coloring. :)

All depends on coloring and the number of fry. Even though Fiskis is lighter colored than Doris, Doris has so many fry that her gravid spot is much more visable. By the way for those of you who do not know already, gravid is the Swedish word for Pregnant.
