hey,

i looked at my 2 pregnant female guppies last night and there gravid spot had changed from dark black to a light red colour, this happened to both of them at the same time i dont know what is going on is it bad?

also they have been pregnant for about 7 weeks now do u think they will give birth at all?

Thanks in advance

theyve probably gave birth dont worry about it as i have some guppies with pink gravids they soon turn black

ok good, i havent seen any fry and they havent gotten any smaller so i dont thing that they have given birth yet?

Can you see any black dots in the red? The red might just be the babies getting bigger (their gills, maybe?)...my pregnant platy's gravid spot is red, but you can see the little black eyes in there as well. Otherwise, I have no idea, lol.

YEAH, i went to check and there was a tiny fry in there only one im sure more are coming

IM SOOOO HAPPY!!

when shud i feed em??

Regular flake food is justfine, just be sure to crush it up intoTINY little pieces so they can get it in their mouths. Frozen daphnia, ifyou can get it,is also a great early food, and one ofthe smaller frozen ones. (Frozen BABY brine shrimp work as well.)

In this case it probably was birth, but sometimes if the gravid spot changes color, it's the fry turning around. The dark eyes give the gravid spot the brownish color, but occasionally the fry turn around (usually at night) so the gravid spot becomes lighter, because you don't have the dark eyes.

And start feeding them right away. What Darkmoon Bettas mentioned is good. And just be aware, they may not eat if you are standing there. It takes a while for them to get used to you.

Oh yes, and congratulations! :good:
