Gravid Patch

I think one of my platies may be heavily pregnant, i found a single platies fry in my tank about 4 weeks ago now and it is doing fine. My question is can a gravid spot be an orangey colour? I have read every where it is black. My female platy is getting very big and is becoming quite square but the spot i can see is orange/peachy colour with small black dots in it.

might pregnant what color is she not her gravid spot? because my swordtails are an orangy-yellow they never get black gravid spots they are always orange. the reason that the gravid spots turn black is because those are where the fry are and their eye color is what makes it black so the gravid spot does not necessarily need to be black

also it could be the color of the frys body that makes it black what are the mothers and fathers eye color and body color? if u know

basically sounds like she is expecting esp if you can see the dots, the darker the orange of platy the less gravid areas you are able to see, and black ones ofcourse

Hiya, i have a white see through platy and her gravid spot was definatly orange as i didnt realise she was pregnant until she gave birth! and her middle was most definatly orangy peachy colour

yes, it is possible that she may be pregnant... The only reason i say that is because the bodies are a light colour, and if you can look really closely, you may be able to see their eyes. I was able to, but keep an eye on her!
