Gravid Guppy

mmmmmmmmmm how shall i start. I know, i was in live chat sunday night talking about my gravid female. Decided from the chat and the size of the about to burst guppy, that something had to be done.

The only option open to me was to place her in a breeding trap. Didnt want to but as i had no 2nd tank and, no chance of dividing the tank, and couldnt leave her in the com tank for the fry to get eaten, thats what i did ( put her in the trap ).

Monday came home from work went straight to my tank looked in the trap she'd aborted the eggs. Must have been to stressfull for her. So took the lid of and put her back in, also emptying the aborted eggs. My neons took great pleasure in eating them ( I do feed my fish onest ).

Well caught sight of the female today and she still looks like she may have some eggs left in her well i got my fingers crossed anyway.

Morale of my story for me is : Jump up and down on the breeding trap and buy a small tank.

I personally avoid breeding traps, but if there's a time I do need to, I only keep them in there for maybe 8 hrs or less. Good luck in the future though!

I have my female in one right now had so place to put her and have no money to get another tank yet..... she is so big i'm going to let her out tonight cause she's holding them in till i do lol thats what she did last time to me... last time she wasn't this big I don't know how much more room shes got in there... I have a 3g tank that i have two new fish in but i've only had them for one day and don't want to put my other female in there if they have or get something both new females are 2 week I think but the one is getting fater already

The two new fish haven't got anything or showed any signs of having something should I put her in with them for a few days ? or just let her back in the main tank

phlysa i would wait jus another 24 hours b4 adding them, unless ur absolutely sure they dont have anything wrong with them.

i use a breeder and yes it freaks out the momma fish, th same happend to me and she aborted like 3 eggs and had 7 live babys but she still has more inside and she is very prego. im jus gunna wait til she strates havin them and then put her in the breeder.
