My gravid female guppy has white surrounding her vent and I don’t know what it is. Please help me asap!
Hello. I believe I have the answer. Warm, clean water and lots of it. Up your water change a little and make the new, treated tap water a bit warmer. If you want to take things a bit further, then dissolve a small handful of standard aquarium salt into the new water. The combination of a flush of warm, pure water and a bit of salt will help ease any stress the fish could be feeling. My gravid female guppy has white surrounding her vent and I don’t know what it is. The problem is that we don't know how it looks like by the photos given. It doesn't have to be stress. Let's wait first to see the requested photo before we can say what the OP can do. If it would be an infection for instance, a lot of warm water can give her even more stress. Salt can be a good remedy for lots of things but as long as we don't know what's going on, I'd wait to put salt in it.Hello. I believe I have the answer. Warm, clean water and lots of it. Thanks for the info!Would really need to see the vent area, but it can look that way shortly before birth, and she looks very round, so it's likely that she's going to drop her fry soon. I suggest not moving or netting her, since this cans stress the female, and hurt the fry inside. Best to leave her to birth where she is.
What sort of tank/bowel/container is she in? Looks very empty and bare, which will make her feel exposed and unsafe, and that's not good at any time, but especially not good for a female preparing to birth fry, since they want to hide away in plants.
I'd recommend going and buying some live plants if possible to add to her tank. Fake plants will also work if you can't get live plants, but live plants are better and usually cheaper if you get basic stuff.
I can't see anything wrong with her. But she doesn't seem close to giving birth.I can give you pictures if it would help. She is currently swimming around normally and there at lots of plants for her to hide and give birth.
