do you use a gravel vac to do your water changes? if not get one as they will clean all the crud from the gravel whilst you do your water change.

I've not yet bought a gravel vac but it sounds as if you are saying that it does both jobs in one, which is a much better idea.So does the gravel need doing every week?

The gravel vac is the best tool i have in my kit. You can give the gravel a really good clean while removing 20-30% water. I do a third of the gravel each week in rotation, so you are always leaving some juicy good bacteria in the gravel, and by the third week and you are the final part of gravel, the bacteria has grown on the first bit. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! The gravel vac is available in most lfs's and is just a few pounds, mine was £1.99! Its a fantastic peice of equipment! GRJ :good:
