Gravel Vs Sand

Hi!
Thought my next post would be regarding fish but running into problems before we get that far!
Brought sand for our tank as thought it looked more 'natural' but already having second thoughts.
The tank is cloudy which I appreciate is to be expected as only had water in it for 24 hours - can't help thinking though that it is also down to choosing the sand option - does it tend to make the water more cloudy? and will any debris so up more on sand?
Should I switch to gravel now before we start introducing fish? Any reccomendations pro's & con's greatly recieved!

the sand will settle after a few days and sand is alot better if you want catfish but its just upto you and which one you like more. have you cycled the tank?

Thanks, actually cleared a lot already! had washed sand and tank will complete cycle today - read through some older posts and looks like I made the right choice - thanks again!

Tank will not have cycled
