I should be getting a 15 or 20 gallon tank soon and I'm hoping anyone would have a recommendation on a gravel vac. I looked on petsmart and petco's websites and nothing really stood out there.

TIA

A Python gravel vac hooks to your faucet and is a real life-saver for big aquariums, but with a 20 gallon tank, any gravel vac will do since you'll only be changing about 4 gallons at time.

With small tanks like that, I find it's better to just use some airline tubing. A python is great, and I use it on my sixty gallon, but they tend to take too much water out of a small tank and not enough waste. The airline tube you can take out minimal amounts of water and still get every little bit of waste. That's just my opinion. Plus airline tubing costs about 2 dollars. Good luck! :D

a mini gravel vac would be perfect for your size tank. they are pretty easy to use too. Just submerge the entire thing and put your thumb over the end of the tube. Then lift the tube out leaving the gravel vac part fully submerged. Put the end of the tube in the bucket or out the window making sure that it is lower than the water level of the tank. Then release your thumb and the syphon should be going. Or you can just suck on the end of the hose like I do =).
