As some of you may know, one of my senegal bichirs has probably swallowed a small piece of gravel, and as a precaution, I changed the tank's substrate to sand :D It looks great, and all of the fish love it :)

No fish or rocks at this point ;)

Fish are back in (My mogurnda and african butterfly fish are staying with " Homer" the Uaru and his gang, thanks for that name lucky :p )

Here's the Uaru (Homer  ), he treats Little mo better than Sunny (Big orange fish) and the geo (Smaller silvery fish) do :D

nice one dwarfs, it's well worth the effect and i think sand looks so much better.

by the way what type of geo is yours? it's exactly the same as my trio that i assumed were S. Jurapari.

how is your senegal doing now? he looks perfectly smooth in that pic.

Thanks, I have 2 senegals acutally, the other one still has the lump -_- I did manage to feed him 3 mealworms yesterday, so maybe theycan help clear out his...problem :p

That geo is a Geophagus surinamensis (same fish as the one in signature) The sand really killed his colors, he looks kind of dull now, but maybe I'm to used to having black gravel :p

give him some banana that will flush him through

what do yours normally eat? mine always end up having 2-3 lancefish.

wow i had surinamensis and didn't even know  our fish supplier reaply need to sort out there geo ID's!!

your sev is gorgeous by the way, his red face wiggles are even brighter than my sev's!!

Mine are both under 7" and eat any sized crickets, cichlid ticks meant for the sev, mealworms, and any frozen meaty fish foods :)

My Sev was probably bred for the brighter colors, we bought him as a red cheeked gold severum from the store :dunno: I just wanted a severum :p

Surinam geos are great, they get to about 10 inches and are almost as personable as severums. My G. surinamensis used the Sev as a bodyguard

Thanks, I'll tell him he's being admired over the internet (He loves attention) :p
The sand is awesome, and for $3 per 60lb bag it'a a bargain

Looks great Dwarfs!

Sand is addicting, I don't think I'll ever buy gravel again.

I saw a Cupid(?) Geo today, about 4" and it was $19.99.
Do you know how big they max out at?
I'm tempted. :shifty:

Thanks for the link.

I think I like the Surinamensis in your sig better, though.

EDIT to add: Have you ever fed your bicher Hikari sinking carnivore pellets?
My Bichir loves it, as does my Ctenopoma.

ooohhh u should post a pic of ur abf...plzzzzz i luv those and would luv to put one in my 30g..im just worried about the gouramis nipping it's fins!! but ur sand looks awasome ;)

Thanks lexxa :D If you get one keep an eye on the tetras, these ABFs have huge mouths :)

Thanks comet, the surinam is one of my top 5 favorite fish :)
I didn't even know you had senegals or ctenopomas  Mine eat just about anything, but my bichirs all time favorite seems to be cichlid sticks, and my ctenopomas like whatever I give them  :) (My ctenopomas occasionally eat peas  )
