I have a 75 that currently got attacked by white spot because when I netted one of my yoyo's it became stressed and well yeah the tanks fully cycled but stress of being netted appears to have brought it out...

I want to swap over to sand now is it safe to do a full swap (the sand will be washed thoroughly) and is it safe when there is white spot in the tank...I was thinking it might eliminate some eggs laid in the gravel.

Will medications stain sand?? Malachite green etc??

Please respond

Unfortunately I don't know if malachite green will stain the sand, but I would recommend waiting until after the whitespot is under control before converting as this will add to the stress level of the remaining fish.

If there are no remaining fish, I would just start over. Maybe it's possible to do without having to completely re-cycle, etc. but I'm a fan of better safe than sorry. It'll give you time to plan out your "dream" tank.

I know this wasn't much help, just wanted to show you weren't completely ignored. :/

switching from gravel to sand won't eliminiate the bacteria
the eggs are the white spots on the fish and the bacteria are free swimming

turn the temp up to 80 and dose with half malachite greene recommended dosage, it is more then enough

dose for 4 or 5 days straight and everything should be ok

I have med and treating it I wasn't moving from gravel to sand because of the white spot I am putting 25 Ml of M Blue and M Green (it's in the med only one I could get)

bugger Lol I just washed all the sand I might put it back in its bag and wait until I stop treatment....I might grab a little bit of sand and test it out see if it staint instantly or over a period of time....just to check so I know not to use mal green with sand
