Hi there,

Right now I have this white gravel with blue flecks in it. There is quite a lot of it. I think too much even. I inherited the fish tank so I didnt want to mess with it until the cycle was finished and things had settled down. I have put plants in and changed the aweful background. But I dont really like the gravel. I would like to change it to either a darker colour or sand. Not quite sure. How would I do this without stressing my fish out.

Thanks in advance,

Just scoop it out with a net and then put in the new sand first. it wont need washed or anything as your filter will clean it for you anyway. I done that with my 4 discus and it worked a treat.

wrong, you should wash your sand 1st especially if its really fine sand like play sand

the fine dust that the filter picks up could damage your filter and the dust might not settle for weeks

first pour your sand into a bucket about 1/4 or 1/2 way up then add water then stir then tip the bucket to dump the dirty water

rinse and repeat
