Gravel In A Planted Tank?

hi

i already have gravel in my tank and i have decided to turn it into a planted tank. can i use the current gravel that i have as the substrate? i will be using CO2 and ferts but can i have succesful plant growth using gravel or should i use a special substrate?

that will be fine. i have gravel in my tank with plants and i dont have any CO2 or put any extras in for them and they are fine
 
it will be ok but it means you will need to dose more in the water column, you can help this by putting root tabs ear the base of plants.
