I have purchased a battery operated pump to do my water changes, which can also be used for cleaning the gravel. I tend to do the water changes by taking the water from the bottom of the tank and taking as much debri up as I can, but for some reason if a large fish swims close to the bottom and disturbs the gravel it kicks up a load of waste which I have missed, is there a fool proof way of cleaning the gravel?

Hi, i guess the best way to make sure it's all totally clean is by removing the gravel and washing it....most people use a gravel cleaner and i guess your pump works in the same way so the only way i know whould be to take it all out and clean it...hope this helps :)

The battery operated gravel vacs pretty much suck. Maybe if its a high priced one it might work.

The best gravel vacs are the manual ones. Vac and tube, you can't beat it.

If you have good water pressure then the python is your best bet as you can use it to clean the gravel and to fill the tank with new water.

I wouldn't recommend removing your gravel and washing it. Cause more problems than its worth.
