I bought some platies about a month ago and they are absolutely gorgeous but they have been very naughty. Today with some shock I disscovered that there are some very cute and cheeky platy fry in my tank. They are soooo cute they are the colour of the yolk in Cadbury's Creme eggs! I'm just hoping that they won't breed out of control like my guppies did. I'm not going to isolate them as they will all survive and I will have way too many. Does anybody have any tips to keep them under control?

Lots of love Sarah

You may just keep males or females. As combining the sexes will lead to a population explosion. (it's only nature)

Congratulations!

I'm in the same situation as yourself, I can't really afford to keep them, but they are so cute

I am not doing anything deliberate to save them, and I am supposed to want them to disappear down the throats of the adults- but whenever I see a little one diving into the undergrowth I can't help rooting for them.

Yours sound absolutely gorgeous. Mine are mostly light pink, but a few are orange. I have 3 batches now and there seems to be more survivors with each
batch. Not getting many guppies though; they seem to get eaten more.

Awww how cute! No I'm not going to do anything to deliberately save them-if they live they live. I can't afford to have too many-my tank is already overstocked but there is no one who will have them. I guess I could sell some on the Internet but how successful would I be? ????

i doubt selling platies on the internet would be very succesful as htey are available anywhere they sell fish. I've yet to see a fish store without platies, guppies or mollies!
