Haven't been on the list in weeks, hurricane caused some dog rescue work plus our National Specialty is in a few weeks.

Anyway, I moved some stock around a few weeks ago, not sure yet if it was wise or not. I bought another giant gourami (fasciata) to keep the first one company. I moved them both into the 55g with the Pearls and Opaline. The Opaline chased the giants around and after a week, their tails were battered. I used some Melaleuca which really helped. The chasing is lessening and one of the giants will turn around and face off the Opaline which stops her in her tracks.

I think it all stressed the other fish out at first. The sick phantom finally required a freezer bag as she was dying. I am seeing some flashing so wonder if there is something else at work here? Can't find any Ich or velvet and haven't seen flashing in a few days, so maybe a good PWC did it. I am keeping a sharp eye out.

Anyway, I hope when I add the Gold that the Opaline can take up for herself. For now, the gouramis in the 55g all school together every so often. The 2 giants don't hang out much, so not sure that was a great idea. Some days that tank can be a little busy with the Pearls having a stand-off (rare) or the Opaline chasing the giants, then the phantoms flaring at each other. Good grief. :S The plec could care less, it just keeps on eating!

Things should settle down in time though watch it when you add that gold (like I must have told you several times before) as you're bound to have some conflict between all the gouramies for a while at first.

Yes, I am dreading that day! Sal is hell on the corys in the 20g, but only at feeding time. I counter this by turning lights out as soon as the algae tabs go in. :D When I am sure the 55g is healthy, I'll move the giants to the 20g and Sal to the 55g, then watch carefully with her and the opaline. I am waiting on the opaline to grow a bit more too.

In the 55g, the newest Fasciata is coloring up finally, getting some red and green around her bottom finnage. Probably less stressed as Pauline the opaline has stopped doing so much chasing. I am watching Pauline as her dorsal fin is getting a bit elongated. It is not *that* different than Sal's and her body type still resembles a girl. Even the LFS guy was most sure she was a girl. But I am watching anyway.

It is hilarious to see all the gouramis milling around one end of the tank at feeding time. Looks like a pack of hungry dogs! :p They are such piglets, even the newer giant pushes her way in to get her share. The Pearls are looking just lovely. Everyone's fins are growing and pretty. No flashing in the last week, so hopefully whatever was going on is under control.
