Gouramis And Shoalfish

Hello!

I am looking for a type of shoalfish to complete my tank. I made 2 attempts with neon tetras, but the fish did not survive one week.... Most of them disappeared.....

Can anybody recommend me a species (not too fancy please, as in rural Mexico, my choice of fish is limited), or would it be better to fill up the tank with corydoras or something else?

I have currently 3 dwarf gouramis and 2 (large) pearl gouramis.

I'm going to mexico in about a year hopefully collecting wild livebearers.

The the centeral hi-lands there are many livebearers that are stunning, some of the wild swordtails are fantastic and the rare goodieads on the centeral are as loverly. Wild mollies and guppies can be found all over the place.

Course there's nothing like neon's or stuff but local fish do have some great features of their of if you go look.

How about some rasboras?

Guppies are a great choice. Stunning, entertaining, but breed like rabbits, so only get males if you dont want babies.

Yesterday I bought 6 Serpae tetras. I read that they are a bit agressive, and can be fin nippers, but I thought that was just what I needed to keep the gouramis off their backs!

Well the plan so far is Land Mexico City, hire a pick up, drive out the city with out the police stopping us. Fine a nice hotel south of the city then go see what we can find.

I'm going with a couple of people how have done it before so hopefuly all should be good.

Serpae tetras are nice fish I've had a few over the years with no problems.
