Gourami with sores...

Hi there ,

I have a Yellow Gourami with red sores (one on main body and a little red on anal fin) in QT and being treated with Melafix.

She has been in there for 2 days and is not really improving.
I am planning on getting some Aq Salt in there later today, but i was wondering if there is anything else i can do for her

I think the sore appeared from continual abuse from a blue female gourami, but it seems to be detirorating slightly in QT.....
Grrrrrrr.... i hate agressive gourami (not that it's their fault of course)

Any ideas most welcome....

If I was you I would try some melafix that stuff is great for open sores or wounds I might add plus it is mild so it wont stress out your fish to much either..

As this is also my fish, I thought I would give an update and a *bump* in the right direction

she is now being treated with melafix and salt, but not really looking any different. one of the barbels seems to be shredding. the best way I can describe it is like electrical wire with the plastic coating stripped off. we dont want to add any other meds at the moment, as we dont know what it is.

any ideas would be greatly welcomed. she is a much loved fish

Well just as a note - although none are probably interested - the Gourami has pretty much recovered from the mysterious red sores....

Melafix and Salt in QT were the treatment (7days).....

I wonder if i should start a topic to recommend combining the Emergencies and Chat sections, as too many posts in this so called "emergency" section are not responded to due to lack of exposure.....
Perhaps a re think maybe....
