I came back off holiday yesterday to what I thought was a "normal" looking tank but on closer inspection this morning while doing my water change, I noticed that my adult gold gourami has lost her left pectoral fin. You can tell she's not 100% as she's not swimming along the glass as much as she usually does however she's still eating and swimming about still. She is know to have her "mad half hours" where she zooms around the tank and break neck speed which maybe the possible cause however i do have a shoal of gold barbs which are known to cause mayhem from time to time - could it be the barbs which are the cause? When the barbs go near her she tends to ignore them and I've never seen them cause her any trouble before (I've had them about 6 months). Water stats are all good. Will the fin grow back?

I doubt the barbs had anything to do with it.

How long has she been zooming round the tank? Look closely at her, any signs of dust or specks on her body? She's more than likely injured herself, and mad zooming behaviour isn't normal for gourami's, I'm more inclined to think something's annoying her.

As for teh fin growing back, I'm not sure, it depends on how extensive the damage is and how healthy the fish is.
