Gourami Sickness ?

I have two orplin gouramis and they both seem to be flaking there scales ( the colour has totally gone on the top of one of my gouramis !! )

I thought only one had this so i removed him and put him in this own tank .

Came home from work today and they other gourami has started flaking too , ((( before someone says it - WATER Quality IS fine , nitrate is slightly up but not by much ,

Last readings ; PH 7.6 Nitrate 40/80 Nitrite 0 Ammonia 0
water tested last night !!!



should i worry my head off ?

What do you mean by flaking?
Are the scales visibly falling off of their own accord?
Have you simply noticed scales missing?
What do the opaline have as tank mates?

there scales appear to be just flaking off , as for tank mates , a couple of brisle nosed catfish and 6 tiny fish (harlequin rasboras )!

The one that started flaking first is in his own tank thing at the mo , the other gourami was fine this morning but tonight he is flaking , Slightly darker spots but seems to totally flake away until its PINK !!

It sounds like some sort of bacterial infection but not sure what. The only thing you can do is make sure there water is clean and get some medication from your lfs to treat it.

i have added general tonic to my tank at the mo , if i change water will that effect GT i have added ???
