Hi everyone,

I have had a dwarf gourami for 2 weeks now. He was transferred to one of my main tanks after one week in hospital tank. He was fine at first then after 2 days the other gourami beat him up over night. The attacking gourami was taken out of tank immedietly.

Dwarf had tail fins ripped, was doing circles cause one fin was ripped and stuck to his side. After one day fin started working better and no longer circling, but he is still declining with his swimming abilities. He props himself up on the plants and barely stays upright or lays on top of my co2. He can swim when he tries as he always comes for his bloodworms, but he has trouble remaining stable. He breathes hard all the time, but appetite is normal. He is starting to get white blobs on head area. All other fish in tank are great. (2 ottos, shrimp, snail, 2 dwarf female gourami)
All water parameters at 0 and ph is 7.
So, for 2 days now doing salt water baths for 5-10 minutes,(can't do longer as he lays right on side and afraid he might die) Have no clue what is happening to him. Anyway, I can help him?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions :)

15 gallon tank.
He is worse today and im considering euthanasia as now he can't even prop himself up. He is by himself in salt water tank with a container that nearly reaches the surfaces so he lay on it and reach the surface for air.

Yep...same happened to my amle D.G the other week, seems he was beaten to death by the female.

Sorry to hear about your D.G.
I am uncertain that it was just him beaten as he has the white lumps on his head too, but that could be bacteria after being beat up. Just seems weird that after it happened he could still swim around, although in circles at first and then day after day he is getting worse even though no one is there to beat him up and make it worse. He is a new fish so i thought he could have had a disease as well (maybe that is why the other fish picked on him).

So i put the D.G to sleep at work this morning (i'm the manager and surgical assistant at a vet clinic). He went really peacefully, thank god.

I'm sorry for your loss, Nashoda :-(
