What size tank and what kind of gouramies and what other fish are in with them?
Females don't blow bubblenests - the males do.
You can't breed gouramies with an ordinary filter - not only does it hinder the male's bubblenest building, the fry will also get sucked up.
You can breed most gouramies in a 10 gallon with a small sponge filter and an airstone set on low. A heater and some floating plants and a cover for the tank are also useful or sometimes necessary.
Put the sponge in the main tank for a week before returning it to the breeding tank and introducing the pair. That way it has time to be colonised by beneficial bacteria.
The male and female should be conditioned seperately, then both added to the breeding tank. Adding the female first will limit aggression and the time it takes for both to settle down and breed.
The temperature must be around 80 deg F and the tank must be covered as, being labyrinth fish, the babies need to have warm air above the water to take their first breaths.
The female must be removed after the fish have mated and the male left to guard and take care of the eggs and newly-hatched fry for the next few days. Don't feed him during this time he usualy won't take food anyway and you run the risk of polluting the tank.
Once they become free swimming he should be removed as well. The fry now should be fed on infusoria or liquid foods. Eventualy, after a week or so, they'll be taking microworms or baby brine shrimp readily. Later you can give them crushed/powdered flake as well. Make sure the airstone is on once they become free-swimming and make sure the air temperature is the same as the water as their labyrinths are developing and they are especialy fragile.
You will possibly need to put the growing fry in a larger tank or grow-out tank as they mature. That is if they are a large gourami.
