I have two powder blue gouramis in a 20 gallon tank with 3 yoyo loaches, 2 dojos & 1 small chinese algea eater. The Gouramis have been in the tank for several months now. I do weekly water changes & keep the nitrates and nitrites in check. The ph is a little hight as is the water hardness and the only thing I usually add to the water is Aqua Safe, to dechlorinate the water. In the last couple of weeks one of my gouramis has been developing a dark spot right under one eye, near his gill. At first it was barely noticeable but now it has grown and darkened to what looks almost like a legion, kind of reddish. He's eating and swimming fine and my other gourami seems fine. Could this be a fungus or maybe a result of other fish picking on him? an infection? What can I do to help him? The algea eater does sometimes try to nibble at the gouramis, but nothing I've seen as being really sinister that would cause such wound.

Does it now look like a red inflamed patch.
