Hi everyone

Just a quick one really. I bought a 100litre tank 9weeks ago and completed the cycle etc. I then went away and when I returned, I noticed 20 neons swimming around (this was my little sisters idea as a surprise) at first I was so angry as the tanks was originally bought to house chiclids or similar fish, not neon tetras.

After claiming down and accepting the idea of a community tank. I then purchased a gold and a blue gourami along with a couple of fat bellied mollies.

The tank now has:

2x gourami
1x red tail shark
2x mollies
1x random fish which was in a tank at the local pet store and they hadn't a clue what it was ( I think it's a swordtail)
5x platties (valentines present)

And now only 14 neons!!! Anyway now moving on....

Tonight I noticed the blue gourami ramming my neons, which the gold would then come in and nip them. It seemed as if both were working together to attack each neon one by one till death!!

I then fished the neon out and counted the others, only to find there's now 14, not 20!!

The tank has 3 plastics plants, 2 live large real one and 9 love smaller plants, several rocks / caves and a couple of pots. A 30% water change today with aqua safe added, haven't done a ph test and water around 78.3F

I've read over and over again and many people have claimed their gourami's have killed neons and other smaller fish but others claim this isn't possible.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Sorry for the essay and if it's in the wrong posting area. Thanks and look forward to responses.

Any fish could potentially attack any other. There are no set rules when it comes to fish behavior. I have a danio that chases my red serpae tetras all over the tank, they never turn on him. That's allot of fish for 100L.
