I got my first freshwater tank earlier in the year but I now have the fish bug and I want an even bigger tank. I'd really like to get some angelfish, what tank size do they require?

It really depends on the size of the angels and how many you would be looking at getting :p

Generally speaking a taller tank would be better than a long one, and you should plant it with tall reed like plants, like valisneria and rush. I'd say you'd want to get a 3ft long, and at least 18 inches in height :good:

Well I've seen some Angelfish in our LFS and they're about 2 inches, do they always stay about that size? If so then I'd like to get some of those rather than the large ones I've seen. I was thinking of getting a 3 to 4ft tank.

no they get bigger...heres my breeding pair in a 3ft tank

there about 6inches :good:

Those are lovely nelly :) how many could I have in a 3ft tank?

1 pair.....what you should do is get a large group of 6....wait for them to piar off,,,you will notice when they pair off,,,then return the rest.....mine have just laid there 8th batch of eggs today,,,,,its such an amazing site to watch them care for the eggs and once theyve hatched they move the egg fry sacks around its so great to see....but mine have either been eaten or died strangely...see what happens this time....more than this in a small tank might invite major aggro,,,even if i put one finger the male will attcak me straight away :shout:

Thanks nelly! :) Now off to persude my boyfriend that I need a bigger tank!

20g for 2 and 10g for evey one after that- Thats if you only keep Angels in the tank.

If you want other fish in the tank besides Angels then 20g for 1 and 10G for everyone after that.

Ohh thanks! :) I bought a tank off ebay today, going off the measurements the tank should be about 65 Gallons!
