Got rid of my guppies

I've been really stressed out about my guppies and all the harassment going on so I decided to bag them all up except my favorite male and 2 pretty female fry.

For them I got 20 dollars store credit so I picked out 5 platies instead. They are soo beautiful I got all different kinds. I dont know if they are special breeds or not. Will have to take some pics and post and all you platy experts can tell me

It was kinda hard giving my guppies away..especially since I raised them all. Least I got something for them though and now that I am back how I feel relieved that I dont have to watch all the bullying anymore

I couldn't give up my favorite boy though. He is stunning and so big..very meaty compared to most of the guppies I see. Lots are smaller and thinner. I named him Phantom because hes all black with a greyish head. Then I just kept 2 pretty females who have really nice tails and black bodies with grey heads (match the boy well)

I love my guppys to, only one left, replaced mine with platies, hope they fetch as much fun as the guppys did, good luck with your new arrivals.

Sorry to hear you had so much trouble Elisabeth but glad you managed to exchange them for something else.

Did you get all female platies or some males? I had some juvie platies from Def, who is a member on here, but out of the 8 I got 6 males They are beating eachother up at the moment chasing after the females even though they have 7 of them between them. I'm going to have to consider doing some shuffling around in my tanks to keep the peace

I do hope your platies behave themselves

Yesterday I picked out 1 male and 4 females. The place was busy and the guy getting them for me was the only one working so near the end I ended up picking out 3 that I wasnt sure of. Then when I got home I realized I chose all orangy colored ones Most of the fish in the 30 gallon are orange already Oops So today I called the store and asked if I could bring 3 back in and exchange them for 3 different colors ones. That was no problem..so I chose a pretty opal blue one with black fins, another opal blue one with speckles all over, then a orangy black speckaly one

I'm a lot happier now and the 3 new ones are also females.

I just have the male swordtail and the male platy and the rest of the swordtails and platies are girls...I sure hope everything stays calm

Maybe you can swap some of your male platies for females from you lfs?? It stinks having to watch all the bullying/chasing going on

I gave them about 8 guppies all with beautiful colors.

There were 5 males and 3 females

I'm not exactly sure how old they were but I think around 4-5 months. They weren't full grown yet.

Awww they sound lovely

I've got a pink, orange, lemon and neon mickey mouse pattern and one twin bar orange/lemon coloured. My pink girl had fry a while back and one of them has spots on it as well as the mickey mouse pattern I love their nature although find them more timid than the guppies.

Well I'm going to try a male in the betta juvie tank and one in the female betta tank but then after that I'm stuck. The tank they are in is a big one so I'm surprised they can't just get along naughty men

Yeah they seem very timid.. not as timid compared to my swordtails though Everytime I stick a net in the tank both swordtail females FREAK out When I got back from getting the new fish both were at the bottom of the tank hiding..and very scared when I got close. Slowly now though they are swimming around

I find the swordtails to be so smart compared to a lot of livebearers. It takes me awhile to catch the swordtails whereas my balloon mollies and guppies (only 3 now) basically swim into the net

I hope you can get things sorted with the boys..I used to think that about my guppy boys. I mean they were in a 30 gallon tank with pleanty of room..but nooo they had to fight
