I've had a very stressful couple of hours stripping down my old tank and setting the new one up. All done now though, just waiting for the water to clear. I'll get pics tomorrow once he's settled in a bit.
It has confirmed that his tail damage is from biting though. I had him in a sandwich box for about 20mins and he chomped 2 more bits out while he was in there.
I feel quite guilty as I've swapped tanks for me really, not him :( Hopefully he will settle in and really like this tank. I am planning on getting some pygmy cories for stimulation too :good:
The unipac black sand isn't really black, not even that dark a grey. It's dark though, so looks OK.
I'm very impressed with the filter that comes with the new aqua 40. It is extremely quiet, has variable flow, rotating nozzle and a mini spray bar. I've got the bar facing against the glass which seems to have the flow under control.
Unlike the old model though, this one doesn't have the bar to hold the lid up which I found really useful. I'm going to have to use a pencil I think-bad design superfish :/

Scratch that-the filter has started making a right old racket :( Is there such a thing as a really quiet filter? They're alright until you stick them on the tank, then the vibrations get going and I can't sleep!

Screw the filters, I went to making sponge.... lol. It's weird though, the filter's I've used in my house just plain suck, but the filters in my family-friend's house are like.....not even there. So, insanely, quiet. Ah well :|

Glad it's not just me! I find air filters even noisier though

Ahaha it's just the pump itself that's noisy, but if you prop it up right or tie a towel around it, it seems to get quieter :)
And the air-sounds + water sounds just make me want to pee. But all in all, I'm good hahah :)
