I've had a very stressful couple of hours stripping down my old tank and setting the new one up. All done now though, just waiting for the water to clear. I'll get pics tomorrow once he's settled in a bit.
It has confirmed that his tail damage is from biting though. I had him in a sandwich box for about 20mins and he chomped 2 more bits out while he was in there.
I feel quite guilty as I've swapped tanks for me really, not him
Hopefully he will settle in and really like this tank. I am planning on getting some pygmy cories for stimulation too
The unipac black sand isn't really black, not even that dark a grey. It's dark though, so looks OK.
I'm very impressed with the filter that comes with the new aqua 40. It is extremely quiet, has variable flow, rotating nozzle and a mini spray bar. I've got the bar facing against the glass which seems to have the flow under control.
Unlike the old model though, this one doesn't have the bar to hold the lid up which I found really useful. I'm going to have to use a pencil I think-bad design superfish
