We have a 16 L tank (sorry guys, we aussies don't do gallons!) and I was wondering if there were any 'bigger' fish we could put in it other than gold fish or bettas? By bigger I mean betta-ish sorta size. I'd really like a gourami or two but i think the tank's too small?
If we can't think of anything else we might just put a betta in the tank cos they are so pretty but just wanted to know if there were any other options...
Another thing we are thinking of is putting some sort of divider down the middle of the tank and having a betta in each side.
Thoughts?

16L is like nearly 5 gallons? So I think the danios in your sig need more space (mine are in a 55g) because they like to dart around and swim in a big space. They also might nip a Betta. You might be able to keep a bottom dweller such as some sort of corydora catfish .... someone else please chime in on that though..I'm not sure.
Dwarf gouramis need at least 10g I think?
I say divide it for more than 1 betta and put lots of plants in case they get to flaring too much

That's about 5 US gallons. Not much, unfortunately. Do a search for "5 gallon". There are a couple of recent threads with good ideas for your tank.

Edit: Didn't see your current stock. I have to agree with corykitty, those danios don't belong in a tank that size.

I think the divider is a good idea. Not really any other fish I can suggest...maybe a couple of colourful guppies? Though don't keep males with a male betta...the fins will fly!! Actually you could keep corydoras catfish. They're bottom dwellers. And you're danios need a bigger space. And they will nip the betta. Sorry I haven't been much help... :/

Hi dudes,

What are the dimentions of the tank, Length, width and height (top to bottom)?
Depending on these dimentions is also depending on the fish you can have.

What current stock do you have in the tank?

The stock is in the signature.

You could get a trio of livebearers or a trio of corydoras. Both fun fish, though with the former, you are bound to get babies, and you won't be able to care for them without another tank.

Thanks peeps! We know the tank's too small for the danios, bad advice from the LFS. We are looking at moving up to a second bigger tank in the future hopefully not too far away so they'll get a more spacious home then :)
Ummm, dimensions are I think 30cm x 40cm x 30cm ish deep? (that's from memory).
We've had no luck with guppies so far, no idea why, never had probs with them in the past but they just dont like this tank so I'm not too keen to get any ore at this stage...

Another thought... what about a BN pleco? At least while it's small? can be moved into a bigger tank later...
