earlier this week my mum said i had to get rid of the 20 that was not set up and my 5 gallon in my bedroom so i sold them i have to amit the 20 was an ugly square tank that i got second hand on the spur of the moment, so not fussed that that went. but was gutted i was not allowed a tank upstairs.

any how today at the garden centre/fish shop my mum said lets look at the fish as she knows i am really into fish and when we got that department she saw a 20gallon hex tank on a stand and said that would look really good in the upstairs lounge  so i enquired just out of interest and the guy said we could take the stand and tank, filter, lights, heater, thermometer, 2 real plants, 3 bags of gravel, bit of bog wood and two pots for caves for £120 (think thats a good deal :/ ) so i asked my mum could i buy it expecting a stern no (but worth a try) and she said yes, cant beleive it, was abit shocked  as earlier in the week the rule was no tanks upstairs but now i have a brand new 20 gallon in my upstairs lounge. only rule is this is the last tank i buy untill i leave home. so i am one happy camper today.

so expect a few posts helping me stock and few queries i have

sorry for the random post just well chuffed :kana:

How exciting for you!
Your mom is great :)

I'd fill it up with 10 - or so - beautiful girly bettas, get some live plants going in there, maybe some sand or natural gravel and driftwood and slate to create some amazing little hidey spots!
But I'm partial to bettas.

unfortunatly cannot get betta's where i live. which is a bummer as they are so pretty.

so far i have got really small natural coloured gravel, 2 live plants, nice, interesting shaped bit of bog wood and 2 different sized terracota coloured pots (amazing how natural they look).

going to see how i go with live plants (this is my first try at them) and after a few months if everything is good i will add some more.
