:-( Big Blue, my female blue platy that I have had for 2 years passed away 3 days ago. She was my original platy from day one, I still have her life partner, but he isnt looking so good either... I got them the same day and im gonna be sad when he goes too. On the bright side, she left 4 wonderful babies for me about 4 weeks ago, and I have 4 from her previous batch... (one looks just like her). Sadder thing was, I wasnt home when this happened... so she was flushed, when I wanted to bury her  ..... I cant say much more, its heart breaking in a weird fish type of way.... I dont know what to do.

sorry to hear about your fish.........
rip big blue.
ps: tell the flusher that flushing a dead fish is not a good idea for the environment esp if it has died from a disease.

:( So sorry to hear the news :( Well you sound like you treat your fish so special and I think you are a lovey person to care so much about your beautiful platies :) I love platies I have five and I hope the little babies from your lost platy give you so much fun :) Rip Big Blue you are in a big fish tank in the sky and I bet your looking down so proud of your lovely owner who gave you such a great home :) once again sorry and all the best from Steph :)

Thanks for your support guys. I am not thinking that she died from a disease, but than again I dont know, I did have her for about 2 years... and who knows how old she was at the petstore... so she lived a pretty long platy life if you ask me. I just wish I could've seen her, and than maybe I could've put some peices together. She had looked fine the days before....guess I will never know.

:-( Unfortunately I was studying on the forum and looked up the lifespan of platies on this forum and they ony live between two to three years :( The fact that you have had her for that long and considering you don't know how old she was when you bought her she probably died of old age :( It is a curse in life and one day even us have to go to that place in the sky :/ The fact that she lived so long you must have did everything right and looked after her superbly it's just a shame she had to go.I'm wishing platies lived longer cause I'm quite attached to these five I have.Well sorry she had to go but hope all your other fish are doing well all the best :) From Steph :)

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss. :( You took good care of her while she was with you, so take comfort in the fact that you gave her a happy and healthy life. I'm glad you have some offspring to remember her by.

It's so nice to come on this forum and see so many people really getting attached to their fish... till I had my first tank last year, I didn't realise how brilliant they are as pets, then I lost that tank and got so upset by the death of the entire tank of fish that I actually got sick, I just got so sad and depressed, thought I was just odd! Then I came on this site and started to realise how many other fish lovers there are.

I have lost a few fish in this new batch, but I think they were sick fish when I got them because nearly everything in the tank now is doing really well.... and breeding like mad, I have some gorgeous cross platties... I had two original small blue males and 3 big mickey mouse with the black tails... now my tank is full of rainbow colours... then there's the platties, some are absolutely gorgeous, well all of them actually...

I am sorry to hear you lost your older one, but glad she left you some of her genes in the tank! Linda

I am so sorry to hear about Big Blue, I too get so attachd to my little fish and get upset when they pass on to the big river in the sky.

It is so nice to hear other people feel the same about their fish, mine bring me so much joy to watch them and sometimes I watch them more than the tv
