Hey everyone, I am new to the forums and I figured I would ask you guys what you think. I am looking for some oddball fish to add to my tank. Right now I have a Black Ghost Knife, a Common Pleco and 2 Butterfly plecos. Of course everyone is nocturnal and I never see them during the day so I am looking for something that isn't nocturnal that I can enjoy during the day time then enjoy my knife at night. Its a 29 gallon tank and the Common isn't staying forever, once he gets larger I am giving him to my neighbor who has a 225g. I have had fish my whole life. I love them its so much fun to watch. Ill sit there and watch my tank instead of watching TV.

You will also need to rehome the black ghost knife fish as they need 100 gallons minimum and can get as big as the common plec at upto 24"

Have to agree with the BGK they do get huge - gorgeous fish though!

Which type of butterfly pleco are they - like this http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile.php?g...ura&id=1033 or http://www.loaches.com/species-index/beauf...a-kweichowensis - both are fine in this size tank IMO though the latter species needs a high flow rate and also high airation in the water.

Other inhabitants you could think of - if you want odd balls, how about african butterfly fish - Pantodon buchholzi. They are a surface fish but pretty much different from anything you can see - will do fine with the remaining butterfly plecs (either species) but then maybe as mid water fish stay peaceful and very un nippy though nothing to small to fit in its mouth. Maybe somthing like dwarf neon rainbows. Maybe a small group of spotted headstanders?

Not 100% sure but I think you can get some dwarf chana suitable for a 30g. Could always go for a South American Puffer tank - though these are not usually for begginers and you would only be able to keep these in the tank maybe the plecs if they were the top link and also a load of snails.

Yeah, the butterflies I have are the first link. I hate how they blend in with their surroundings though, cant see their true colors. I have live plants and an oxygen supply in there so I don't think that will be a problem. I wanted the Albino Butterfly Bushy Nosed Pleco, but my manager ordered me the wrong ones. I was thinking the African butterflies but I heard they were nasty. Very cool fish though.
