I'm new to cichlids but have kept a community tank for 6 years

Are these good tank mates in a 100L tank?

2 Small gold severum
2 Firemouths
2 Jewels
2 Krib

I realise that some of these fish can get big so i have spoken to my local fish shop and they have said they would take them off my hands if and when then grow out of the tank.

For now there is plenty of space for them all but i am just wondering if they are well suited!

Thanks

No. The sevs need a much larger tank even at a small size. The jewels and firemouths need a larger tank and will be pretty aggressive if kept in such a small space. The kribs may be possible.

EDIT: I was thinking a 15g for some reason. Yes, should be fine if all the fish are small enough, but only for a very short time.

You are going to see lots of aggression with all those fish, and again as said, all but the kribs will end up needing a bigger tank.

According to a site i converted the gallons so i converted them and it's 26 gallons. I checked several site's and it said that a pair of firemouths should be kep tin a minnimum of 25 gallons. Not to say they would be very very comfy, but it said it might work. Also, i replied to this in the african area, and it had way more info than this post.

Personally, two 6 inch fish are probably going to be a tight squeeze, and, if you didn't see already kribensis12, there are more then 2 firemouths in the tank...

I don't give that mix of fish much chance on working once they get bigger...

Sorry, but that came across quite rude, what kind of information did you want me to give? I answered his/her question, didn't know that I needed to answer anything else... :good:

At the moment the fish are only small and the largest is one of the seves. He is about 2.5inches

the male krib is also about 2.5inches but the female is one 1 inch
The Firemouths are only 1.5 inches as are the two jewels!

The kribs seem to be very happy at the momnt anyway, and there seems to be some signs of breeding

In the tank there are many hidding places, and this helps situations doesn't it?

Thanks for the help so far people! :D

Hiding spaces are very good, especially when they are young as they would naturally protect themselves in greenery, rock work, or fallen timber to stop bigger fish from or attacking them.

I would still say that the tank is even too small for the size they are now. 100L is roughly 25 to 30USG and with four medium to highly aggressive fish in that space, your bound to see problems within the next month or two. Also, they will do most (prob 60 to 70%) of their growing within the first 10 to 15 months and for this, you should have a new tank ready I would say no later than two months down the road. A 100 to 125USG (~400 to 500L) tank will be needed at minimum for life as the sevs will grow to a good size and will need ample room. Some may say this is a an overkill but I would not want to take a chance of aggression popping up a year or two down the road when they become mature adults and their natural instincts become even more powerful in which they want to control territory and become a dominant fish. Just my two cents...
