Well i have the choice of either a 48"x18"x18" or a 72"x18"x12" (HxWxL) and i was thinking of 5, 6, 7 or 8 discus.

Which tank would be better for discus?

Thanks

Yeah thats what i thought because of the extra length but less width. I think they are both hold the same ammount of water though, i think i will have 5 discus and some cardinals. Thanks for your help.

decided to use the tank as an upgrade for my saltwater but i will be doing a discus tank next year prolly same size thanks anyroad

What is the height of the tank? 48" or 72" both seem gigantic are you sure thats correct? Discus need a tank with height of atleast 18"

 Thought something was wrong there. Anyways both have an okay height for them, which is probably the most important factor of the measurments...

A 12" deep tank isn't really suitable for adult discus. A min of 15" is really need, and 18" or 24" would be best.

Im going for the 48"x18"x18" for 5 discus maybe september time after my SW tank is set up for a good few months.
