For Christmas my parents have agreed to allow me to get a 20 gallon tall tank. What I'm thinking for stocking is 4 angels and then I'd upgrade on my schools in my 10 gallon which houses:
2xwhite skirt tetras(or fruit loop tetras which I'd get white skirts or black skirts)
1x glass fish
1x golden barb
1x diamond tetra
What I'm asking is what are good numbers to upgrade on my current fish in my 10 gallon which would be moving into the 20 gallon and is 4 angel fish good for the 20 gallon tall? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Edit: Also if you think of a better idea for the 20 gallon tall please post them. I can always increase my schools in the 10 gallon if i need to.

Come on, someones gotta have something to say
*bump*

You could possible keep an angel pair in a 20 high, nothing else though. They need to be a paired off male and female though. The tanks must also be sparsly decorated, for they will need as much room as they can get, a 20 high isn't too large.

Also, diamond tetras will be miserable unless they are kept in a group of at least 6, as they are schooling fish. I have 7 of them in my 33 gallon and they're doing really well. All schooling fish prefer to be in groups, so I would suggest either just not getting the tetra, or getting a group of 6 or more, but you might have to take something(s) of that list to do it. Same thing goes for other tetras you have mentioned.

Ok well lets not think angels or tetras, what do you think would be good to put in a 20 gallon high?

I do not think that having angels within a 20g is a good idea. It will stunt their growth and end up in them being fairly unhappy.

Maybe try a pair of Rams or a couple female Kribs? However for both of your tanks they need to be fairly mature (meaning they are stable and have healthy bacteria within them). However again for both species of fish the tank is a little small. It is doable though :/ .

Just take your time in a fish species. Make sure to do alot of research as well before purchasing. AND REMEMBER TO CYCLE YOUR TANK!!! Look up different ways to cycle as well.

Check out www.liveaquaria.com for freshwater ideas (under the fish tab). They have accurate descriptions of fish and charts of what fish are compatible to others.

Good Luck and have fun! :good:

They would be nice, I was kind of thinking about them. How many would be good and now I'm thinking A pair of german blue rams or a just a male, then upgrade my diamond tetra school to 6, add about 3 golden barbs, add 4 glass fish, and add 3-5 white or black skirts. Any room for anything else?

Edit: thanks for the advice SandMan, I've decided against angels now and I know to cycle my tank. Any input on my post up here^

Myself I would put in 6 diamond tetras, 5 cories, and maybe a male apisto of some sort. Just what I would do lol. Or maybe get 5 diamond tetras, and 5 of another type of tetra, plus the 5 cory cats.

I would work on what you have already. A proper school of golden barbs will look stunning and just about squeeze into a 20 gallon. That, and a school of diamond tetras will fill the 20 gallon and give you a nice active tank. Upgrade the white skirts for the 10 gallon (looking for non-dyed fish, obviously) and that should be about it.
