I was wondering if someone could recommend a good starting fish to try breeding that is an egg layer type. I have a 10 Gallon and would like to breed an egg layer. I would like to see it myself and I have friends to take any access young that I do not have room for in another 10 Gallon. I would like a true species fish and I would prefer to stray from any of the dyed, as well as the hybrids. I apologize if I sound very new as I am and I havent had fish for some time now. Advice, ideas, biotope and help or critisism is appreciated.

Thanks..

Things like danios are easy, it's jus getting the eggs before they eat them thats the rub.

Thanks for the post. Do you recommend regular danios. Is it true that the long fin danio is just bred to be that way and that they are truly just danios?

Do they need to be housed alone? How many? Whats the size of maturity they reach before breeding. Can they be housed with other fish during this process. Is there obvious signs of mating so I would know approximately when I should look for and remove eggs or the danios to a safe house?

Again thanks for answering my questions and for the advice.
