USA,
what would be some good schooling fish that can go with angel fish? I would like to get a schooling fish for my tanks, but I know that many fish would be bad.

I was thinking Danios, WWMC ( As I saw PetSmart has them for $.99 compared to $4 each at the lfs) or maybe some barbs?

The tank is a 55, and there are only 6 other fish, apart from the three angels. 2 ottos, havent seen any yet to get another one, 3 corries, which I will be stocking up on today as well as getting the schooling fish, oh and one female sword tail.

Id stay away from barbs, they are sometimes quite nippy, and can pester your angels.

I like the sound of Harliquin rasbora, or another small characin.

You could also build up your group of livebearers if you wanted too?

I do have two swordtail fry that I am waiting for them to grow, but I dont think they will get any bigger, they are 1 inch, but very thin, and I also have 2 male platties that I will be adding to the tank. They were isolated in my 5.5 as I thought they may have had an infection, but the are better now, and going to go back in the 55 soon.

Hopefully I will be able to find a vey plump female mollie and she will be able to have some fry in the 5.5, as I have always wanted to raise molly fry. Thats really off topic isnt it?

I have with my 4 angels
firehead tetras and false rummynose tetras, glowlight tetras, neons(lutino), black neons, cardinals
I'd say the best "schoolers" out of those are the fireheads and false rummynoses
second being the glowlights.

I second the recomendation of rummy nose / fire heads. Best schooling fish I have come across and I believe they are OK with angels. You could get quite a few in a 55 with what you already have in there.

Actually, harlequins are cyprinids, if I'm not mistaken :p

Harlequin rasboras are great, they are more active than tetras and less nippy IME :)

Scissortails are a fish I have found look lovely as a school with angels. Do cosnider them. Otherwise, harlequin rasboras, most non-nippy barbs (try checker) or maybe black phantom tetras would also look lovely. Most danios make good candidates too but they occupy the top layers so may not be the sort of fish you were after. Avoid giant danios as they tend to be nippy and remember not to get any fish that's too small or it will get eaten.

well I do have 4 danios, they were all supposed to be zebra, but I got two gold danios and two zebras. And 4 wcmm, which I plan on getting a few more.

I also liked the rosy barbs, how are they?

I am not a fan of the rasboras, they dont seem to fit in with the south american tank, to Asian looking, even though I know danios and WCMM are from Asia as well, they just seem to fit in.

I will look at the Scissortails. One of them jumped out of the tank at my brother last time we were in PetSmart, but I think that is because he was tapping the tank and scared the poor thing. He is so immature for a 15 almost 16 year old.
