I want to buy this aquarium I saw, it's a 75. gal tall, dimensions are 48x18x21, with an oak canopy & oak stand all together for $435. is this a good price?? not used to buying bigger tanks :p

no, it's a new tank, it's just the tank with the stand and canopy. all oak though, it looks nice. i just want to know what somebody with more *cough* experience would think.

well if i convert that to £££ then thats a good deal yea.

a fluval 1200 which is 48x16x18 is around £270 with a stand.

not sure if tanks are alot cheaper over that side of the pond tho.

look on some aquarium sites.

that's where I'm looking at it, on the internet. thanks for your opinions, culd use a couple more though. $400 is hard for a 14 year old to come by, but bit by bit, I'll be there. I'm all excited now :hyper:

Not sure if I qualify as 'experienced' (cough or no cough) ;) but I personally wouldn't be running out to snatch it up. Not that it's NOT a good deal necessarily, just that I would think I could find a better one through the local classifieds or message boards. Of course, you might happen to have much better $$ making prospectives than I did at 14 too...

I was able to pick up a 50 g wide with a full cabinet stand (3 ft high) and trim - all gravel, ornaments, light, filter, cartidges (new in box), book (!), etc, for $120 (Canadian). A steal, I know. But there are often decent 'pkg deals' when someone is looking to get out of the hobby. Takes a lot more patience though. And some careful scrutiny.

All depends on how hard that $400 is to come by! :)
