it all depends on tank size along with size and temperament of the oscar.

i keep a diadema, gold sev, rotkeil, flier cichlid and a nicaraguan cichlid with my oscar and they all live in peace

I have kept Severums with Oscars in the past no bother, most medium to large SA's work pretty well, they tend to get bullied with larger CA's.

General rule is if its peaceful and can't fit in the Oscars mouth (or out grown then eaten), it for the most part works pretty well, Some Oscars can have a real glass banger attitude tho and can dominate a tank to it self (usually if kept in minimal size tanks)

the list i gave above is in a 6.5x2x2 and i wouldnt want any more in there so dont go getting too carried away. its a nice size tank but big fish need plenty of room to swim and escape/hide from time to time. also dont forget that the cute little cichlids in the lfs will soon become big fish. check out my big tank journal in my sig to see my set up and stocking. not all in there are fully grown too......
