Evening all.

The good news is my rilli shrimp have done the business and the tank is now full of baby shrimp.

The bad news -  I got 1 assasin snail to get rid of my pest snail problem but he could not keep them down,  so thinking assains were very slow breeders i put two more in, long story short my pest snails are wiped out.... yippee !!  but the tank is now full of dozens, ney hundreds of baby assasin snails.

What are my options - Does a fish exist that will clear up the juvenille assasins but not eat my baby shrimp ? lol   think i know the answer to that.

mind you There is loads of java moss for the baby shrimp to hide in so i guess i want just a fish that will eat the juvenille snails and not the adults.

does this fish exist ?  If it does it must also not have designs on munching my ottos and pygmy cories.

anyone?

What size tank is this? That would be a huge factor.

Size of tank will help members to answer.
What fish you have and how many.

Sorry atibones posted at the same time.

yeah sorry for that. Its just a little 54 litre tank.   I have 3 ottos and 6 pygmy corys in it along with the shrimp and snails

Put in a piece of cucumber and wait for the snails to settle on it whilst they eat then remove the cucumber with snails on it.
You could either sell them on eBay providing you package them correctly making a little profit from them.
Or gibe them away, I wouldn't say exterminate them or chuck them out as I don't like killing anything :)
Your tank is too small for other fish it wouldn't be fair on them.

If you ever take them to a LFS, make sure they understand how to care for them first.  I took a large group of my assassins to the shop and came back a couple weeks later looking for fish to find they were nearly all dead, hadn't even cleaned out the empty shells!  I've not taken assassins to a shop since (and that was the best LFS around my area).  I've been giving them away to other people I know instead... but no one wants that many (I also have an unknown number of them LOL)

Yes i suspected the fish idea was a forlorn hope with a tank so small. I will  try selling them online for 50p or even giving them away online if there are no takers and also try to ask my LSF if they are interested in taking some then use the cucumber method.    I am loathe to pointlessly kill any of them, would even consider getting a little dedicated snail tank before doing so.   I am more concerened about them wrecking the water paremeters of the tank if there are to many. That said a dozen or so is ok but not more

thanks for advice.

Since no one said it:  CONGRATS on the new baby shrimp!

Cheers freedom, wacky as it may sound, despite being 36 it was one of the proudest/happiest days of my life when i saw the little critters, ..... lol

Sorry. Congrats.

Mine haven't bothered my water stats in my 20 gal... lightly populated with fish though (2 honey gourami's and 5 normans lampeyes). My tank has been beautifully stable for a long time.
