Hello everyone :D

I used to love the Practical Fishkeeping forums years ago and haven't quite found anything to fill that hole since then. I especially loved following people's blogs and keeping up with what people have. Facebook and reddit just aren't the same.

I currently have a 200l tank stocked with a handful of green neons, pygmy corys, and two ember tetras that are left over from a shoal. I'm hoping to spend this weekend tidying it up a bit and planting those crypts you see waiting on top of the tank. Currently wondering what to add fish-wise, would like something for the top and maybe a pair/trio of dwarf cichlids. Probably some otos as well because they're adorable and I do have algae problems, as you can probably see 😅

I also have a 55l, a 30l, and a 60l tank waiting to be set up, hopefully at some point this year.

Welcome to the forum 👋
Lovely looking tank as well! Also great to see another manc on this forum :)

We certainly are  I would like to visit Pier aquatics in Wigan and Urmston aquatics. Luckily for me my local non chain store is Abyss aquatics which is an amazing store if you ever get the chance to visit.

Pier Aquatics is great, as is Aqualife in Leyland a little further afield. I currently don't drive so they're a bit tricky to get to, but I'm hoping to get over there this year and get some inspiration for more oddball fish for my future tanks. Will add Urmston Aquatics to my list of places to check out as well.
I was actually at Abyss on Sunday, I love that place, the staff are so nice as well. It's like two bus rides away from me but definitely worth the trip!

ooooo I may give Aqualife a visit then too. Sadly I don't drive as well. Though I am planning on a motorbike licence soon. I do like an oddball selection. Abyss had quite a selection a few years back but not too much has been in stock recently. I had been thinking of giving them my Daisy's RF fry If I can't sell them myself. They haven't had them in stock for a while.

I thought that too about Abyss' selection tbh, I actually wanted some habrosus corys and some coral red pencilfish but they didn't have either, not that they're particularly odd but I feel like they did have more interesting species when I used to visit years ago.

Welcome to The Great Tropical Fish Forum . That’s a cool aquarium you have .
Thank you! I'm hoping to start a blog when I get my other tanks set up, I miss being able to track the evolution of a set up as it grows in and changes and matures :)

On this forum we don't have blogs - but we do have a Journal section which is the same thing :)

As long as I can share photos and try to keep track of who's in what tank it's all good :D
Welcome. I like 'moody and overgrown' and have found the fish do as well.
Yeah, I like seeing them darting between the plants and creeping out at feeding time like it's a jungle filled with wild animals (which is almost correct, I guess!).
I love it when the light barely makes it to the bottom.

Beautiful jungle style.
Thank you, me too. I've tried many plants in my past tanks, but now constantly just settle on crypts, anubias, moss, and bucephalandra because apparently most plants don't enjoy not having light as much as I do 😅

Hello and welcome from a fellow newcomer! I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and say I love the overgrown look of your tanks. As a fellow cat servant, I also love your avatar. 😁

This is from a newcomer to the hobby as well as the forum, so feel free to disregard me, but it might be worth getting some more ember tetras to help make the two you've got left feel secure.
