what's a good eater of green algae that i can put in my 20g long tank, preferably one that doesn't need company?

If it is blue-green algae or slime algae (actually cyanobacteria which is an organism and not algae at all), nothing will eat it. You will have to find the cause and fix that although B-G algae is almost impossible to get rid of. Usually it is caused by too much light and overfeeding.

it's green algae, not blue-green algae. it covers the tank surfaces and ornaments much like brown algae.

I've actually never heard of green algae (that's not to say it doesn't exist0 but B-G algae does exactly the same thing that brown algae does. It gets on everything, substrate, leaves, decorations, etc. There ia actually a pretty good picture of it on this site.
