I was asking about a fish that would eat the 2lbs of freeze dried mealies and crickets I have and that would do ok in a ten gal tank; well someone told me gouramis so here I am. What should I get and will they really eat those insects? I'm thinking a pair of kissing gouramis would do ok. I only want one or two fish in there, maybe three max. Is there a fairly large type that could live in a ten gal that you like?

the only gourami that is big enough to eat mealworms and crickets is the giant gourami and that gets way too big for a 10g tank.
pink kissing gouramis get to about 1ft long so the 10g is too small for them as well. And they won't eat mealworms or crickets. They might eat the really small ones but nothing bigger.

Out of curiosity, why do you have 2lbs of mealworms and crickets?

perhaps get a lizard or give the stuff to someone with reptiles or African finches.

I had a lizard but couldnt bring it to this place so I had bought all the insects bulk and most people feed their lizards live so...I want to get a puffer, they need something like that to keep their beaks cut down.

Well you can always break up the insects if they're freeze dried and feed them that way, I do that with my angelfish and tiger barbs if my Pyxie frog won't eat the freeze dried (happens very, very rarely). Small gouramis would be things like honeys or sparkling gouramis.

kissing gourami will not eat crickets or worms in my experience there hard pressed to find blood worm and daphnia appetisin
opting for cucumber and lettuce instead
:good:
